Phenix City – Hosting Second Consecutive Babe Ruth World Series

Phenix City, Alabama is extremely proud and excited to host the 2019 Cal Ripken 10-Year-Old World Series at the Idle Hour Sports Complex, located less than a mile off of US Highway 80 on Airport Road, next to the beautiful Chattahoochee River. The complex is built on top of what used to be Phenix City’s airport, but is now the home of four Phenix City youth sports leagues.

The Idle Hour Sports Complex features five baseball fields, along with four softball fields, and is just down the road from Moon Lake at Martin-Idle Hour Park, which is surrounded by a ¾ mile finished walking track and a paved—dog friendly—nature trail.

Phenix City is overflowing with fun activities and events for World Series participants, their families and fans. Whether they prefer adventures like rafting the Chattahoochee River on the World’s longest urban Whitewater Rafting course, then flying through the trees on the Blue Heron Zip Line and Aerial Course; or prefer to slow it down by visiting one of the area’s great museums and shopping centers, Phenix City has what they need.

Within five miles of the Idle Hour Sports Complex, someone can play a round of golf at Lakewood Golf Course, rent a bicycle to enjoy miles of Riverwalk riding, or try out the new 18-hole disc golf course located along the banks of the Chattahoochee. Fans of hiking, swimming, fishing or running should be sure to visit one of Phenix City’s beautiful parks, then take a dip in the swimming pool at Phenix City’s Youth Sports Complex or cool off in one of three splash parks throughout Phenix City. There’s also the Coca Cola Space Science Center in nearby Columbus, GA, that innovatively combines education and entertainment to promote science exploration and discovery.

Speaking of Columbus, it is located just across the river and it’s the third-largest city in Georgia. Those who can’t find what they’re looking for in Phenix City can surely find it in Columbus. If not, Auburn University and the Tigertown shopping center are just a half-hour away.

They are really looking forward to hosting the 2019 Cal Ripken 10-Year-Old World Series, along with all of the wonderful participants and their families. We hope you’ll enjoy your stay.
