Jensen Beach and Stuart, Florida (Treasure Coast) were the proud hosts of the 2016 Babe Ruth Softball 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U World Series.
Jensen Beach hosted its first Babe Ruth World Series in 2015 when the Softball 16U World Series was played at Pineapple Park. In addition to Jensen Beach’s Pineapple Park, the 2016 Softball World Series games were also played at two different ballparks in Stuart, Florida – Sailfish and Halpatiokee.
Jensen Beach and Stuart offered visitors many vacation destinations in between games at Babe Ruth Softball’s highest tournament level. They were able to enjoy Hutchinson Island Beaches, Indian, Savannas and Langford Parks, Turtle Walks and a host of other great family activities.
Jensen Beach and Start also boast the region’s leading retail shopping destination. Their shops, gift shops and boutiques, each with their own personality, treated visitors to “just the thing” they were looking for and other variety of treasures that could only be found when you shop in Jensen Beach and Stuart.
The remaining three Softball World Series Champions were crowned in three divisions on August 10 as the Babe Ruth Softball World Series completed its two-week run.
The Shenandoah (Virginia) All-Stars edged Oviedo, Florida 2-1 in the 12U Softball World Series Championship. Earlier in the day, Shenandoah beat Mineral Area, Missouri, 6-0- to advance to the Babe Ruth World Series championship game. Shenandoah did not lose a game in the Series having won six games before the championship.
Other results include Fern Creek, Kentucky defeating Oviedo, Florida, 8-2, in the 10U final, and Mount Washington, Kentucky beating Burkesville, Kentucky to win the 8U World Series.
The 2016 Softball World Series was so successful that Babe Ruth League is proud to announce that Treasure Coast has committed to host the Babe Ruth Softball World Series for the next two years. So sit back, have a bag of peanuts and some cracker jacks too, and just root-root-root for the home teams that have the opportunity to participate in the 2017 and 2018 Babe Ruth Softball World Series!
