Babe Ruth League/Babe Ruth Alumni College Scholarship Program

BABE RUTH LEAGUE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

IRBY LUQUETTE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
The Irby Luquette Endowment Scholarship was established in 2014 by Luquette’s son, Gary Luquette. The endowment is available each year to award deserving Babe Ruth League graduates from the Southwest Region (Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas) with a college scholarship.  (First consideration is given to students from Louisiana.  If award criteria is not met, consideration will be given to students from the other states in the southwest region.)  The funds may be applied to tuition and/or books.

Irby Luquette of Abbeville, Louisiana, has given close to 60 years of dedicated service to Babe Ruth League as a coach, manager, League President, District Director, State Commissioner, Regional Commissioner, Tournament Director and World Series consultant.

Babe Ruth League and the Alumni Association are proud of its commitment to provide financial assistance to former Cal Ripken Baseball, Babe Ruth Baseball and Babe Ruth Softball players through the Babe Ruth League/Alumni Association College Scholarship Program. Our #1 goal is to make a difference in the life of a child.  We are dedicated to providing our participants with the very best educational, sports experience possible. Through the scholarship program, we can continue to enrich their lives long after their days on the baseball and softball diamond.

Each year, we are overwhelmed by the many applications we receive and with the incredible accomplishments of each applicant.  The combination of these two factors make the decision of the Scholarship Committee very difficult.  We kindly solicit all Babe Ruth League volunteers, alumni and friends of the program to support these worthy causes by way of a financial donation and/or the establishment of an endowment fund.  Youth are the future of our nation.  They are our most important resources, and we must aim high for them.  It is imperative that we help ensure our next generation’s continuing scholastic needs.

If you have further questions on how to give to the scholarship programs or how to set up an endowment fund, please contact Theresa Cleary via phone at 609-278-2308 or via email at theresa@baberuthleague.org.  To make a gift now, please click here.
