HELPING TO FUND THE BABE RUTH LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIPS

Babe Ruth League, Inc. realizes youth are the future of our nation. They are our most important resources, and we must aim high for our children. Every child needs caring adults, a healthy start, a safe environment, a good education, development of marketable skills and the opportunity for a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Babe Ruth League, Inc. is proud of its continuing goal to prepare young people to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood through organized baseball and softball. Our objective is to assist them in becoming socially, ethically, emotionally, and physically competitive. We also recognize the significance of ensuring our next generation’s continuing scholastic needs as well as the rising costs associated with education. The education struggle is quite different for everyone, but a goal well worth fighting for. While some focus primarily on the economic benefits of education that are so important to children and their parents, we should be clear from the outset that economics are not the only reason students need solid academic preparation. Day-to-day life has become more complicated and uncertain. As individuals, we are required to make decisions that increasingly demand high levels of understanding and judgment, and a solid proficiency in technology.

It is for those reasons that we established the Babe Ruth League, Inc. College Scholarship Fund, in providing financial assistance to former Babe Ruth League baseball and softball players. By the time a child is in sixth grade, or even earlier, families should have started dialog with their children about going to college. Make it clear that you expect your children to graduate from high school and go on to higher education, whether it is to college or to vocational school. Together, you should start planning how this will be accomplished. Everyone knows that high school courses and grades count for admission to college, but many people do not realize that a college education also builds on the knowledge, skills and reasoning powers acquired in earlier years.

Funds for the Babe Ruth League scholarship program are generated from our annual Golf Outing, along with donations from our good friends at K&K Insurance Group which serves as the title sponsor and Rawlings Sporting Goods.
