OUR LEADERS OF TOMORROW
Babe Ruth League, Inc. is proud to recognize
the achievements attained by our graduates
striving for academic excellence.
The 2006 Babe Ruth scholarship winners have
already achieved great success in their
young lives. Their efforts are worthy of
praise. These young men and women have repeatedly
proven that they can succeed at whatever
they set their minds to doing.

They Are…The Grand Slammers of 2006
ERIC BACA,
from Franklin, New Hampshire, graduated
from Franklin High School with a GPA of
3.7. His interests include baseball, golf
and basketball. His honors and achievements
include the National Honor Society, Wendy’s
High School Hiesman State Finalist, New
Hampshire Athletic Directors High School
Athletic & Academic award and Student Council.
Eric is currently attending St. Anselm College.
PHILLIP TAYLOR BURGESS,
from Fort Smith, Arkansas, graduated from
Fort Smith Southside High School with a
GPA of 4.0. His interests include baseball
and fishing. His honors and achievements
include the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha
Theta, an academic scholarship to UCA, and
various community service projects for special
needs children. Phillip is currently attending
the University of Central Arkansas.
NOLAN CRAIN,
from Galesburg, Illinois, graduated from
Galesburg High School with a GPA of 3.65.
His interests include baseball, volunteering,
and medicine. His honors and achievements
include academic high honors, Chemistry,
Anatomy and Philosophy Student of the Month
and an all-conference academic scholarship.
Nolan is currently attending Carl Sandburg
College.
RYAN DARNELL,
from Chetopa, Kansas, graduated from Chetopa
High School with a GPA of 3.65. His interests
include baseball, football, track, and basketball.
His honors and achievements include the
National Honor Society, Kansas Honors Scholar,
Math League, Science Club, FCCLA, FFA, Varsity
Club and All League Honorable Mention awards
for baseball, football and basketball. Ryan
is currently Baker University in the Pre-Med
Program.
MATTHEW DAVALA,
from Hamilton, New Jersey, graduated from
Steinert High School with a GPA of 3.77.
His interests include baseball, basketball,
French club and Habitat for Humanity. His
honors and achievements include the National
Honor Society and several other awards for
academic excellence, Student Government
Association, and P.A.L. Basketball Player
of the Month. Matthew is currently attending
St. Joseph’s University.
VICTORIA DE CHANE,
from Manchester, New Hampshire, graduated
from Manchester Memorial High School with
a GPA of 3.5. Her interests include softball,
graphic design, the YWCA, and babysitting.
Her honors and achievements include the
President’s Education Award, achievement
awards for English, math, Spanish and advertising
art, as well as several other honors for
academic excellence. Victoria is currently
attending Franklin Pierce College.
NICHOLAS IMPELLIZZERI, from Roosevelt,
New Jersey, graduated from the Peddie School
with a GPA of 3.6. His interests include
baseball, football, lacrosse, chess, surfing,
weight lifting and playing the drums. His
honors and achievements include several
scholar awards and honors for academic excellence.
Nicholas is currently attending George Washington
University.
CHRISTIAN LAUER,
from Pennington, New Jersey, graduated from
Pennington High School with a GPA of 3.1.
His interests include baseball, soccer and
winter track. His honors and achievements
include several honors for academic achievement,
Second Team All Prep Baseball, First Team
All Prep Soccer, Excellence in Religion
award, and community service. Christian
is currently attending Lynchburg College.
JOSHUA MUNOZ,
from Moses Lake, Washington, graduated from
Moses Lake Christian Academy with a GPA
of 3.2. His interests include baseball,
soccer, basketball and his youth group.
His honors and achievements include the
Venture Scholar National Academic Recognition
Award, the Distinguished Scholastic Award,
several other academic honors, community
service, tutoring, lettered in baseball,
soccer and basketball, as well as many other
sports awards including MVP and All-Conference
honors. Joshua is currently attending George
Fox University.
CARLY OSMON,
from Nags Head, North Carolina, graduated
from Manteo High School with a GPA of 4.0.
Her interests include softball, tennis,
fishing and swimming. Her honors and achievements
include the National Honor Society, Student
Government, Cultural Arts Club, honors in
Spanish and community service. Carly is
currently attending University of North
Carolina - Asheville.
ALEXANDER PERRY,
from Danvers, Massachusetts, graduated from
Danvers High School with a GPA of 4.0. His
interests include basketball, baseball,
football, writing for the school newspaper
and magazine and officiating. His honors
and achievements include the National Honor
Society, Spanish National Honor Society,
merit awards for English, science and math,
MVP for basketball, lettered in football,
lettered in baseball, as well as many other
sports achievement honors and community
service. Alexander is currently attending
Tufts University.
BRENDAN WRIGHT,
from Sacramento, California, graduated from
Christian Brothers High School with a GPA
of 4.0. His interests include baseball,
football and outdoor activities. His honors
and achievements include several awards
for academic excellence, Salutatorian of
his Class Award, MVP in baseball, and community
service. Brendan is currently attending
the United States Military Academy at West
Point.
These young people are our scholarship winners
for 2006. They have demonstrated that no
matter what, we have the power within ourselves
to excel in life. Through the guidance and
principles instilled in these young people
by their parents, families, teachers, friends,
and, yes, the Babe Ruth “family”, they have
learned to expand their potential and to
realize their ambitions.
