QUINCY, MASSACHUSETTS

Just South of Boston awaits one of New England’s most captivating destinations, Quincy, Massachusetts. Pronounced :”quin-zee”, this beautiful, historic city-by-the-sea is the proud host of the 2008 14 Yr Old Babe Ruth Baseball World Series.
Quincy has much to offer visitors; from history to restaurants;  from shopping to beaches;  from parks to proximity to Boston, Quincy is sure to provide visitors with a memorable stay.
While in Quincy be sure to visit our wonderful historic sites.  Known as “The City of Presidents”, Quincy is the only city in America that can boast of being the birthplace of two American Presidents.  John Adams (2nd  President) and John Quincy Adams (6th President) were both born, raised and are now interred in Quincy.  Any trip to Quincy isn’t complete without a visit to the National Parks Service’s Adams Mansion site or the Birthplaces of the Presidents.  The grounds of these locations are immaculately kept and offer visitors a trip back in time.  The sites maintain all of the original period artifacts of the presidential Adams family.  Come see where America’s Constitution was shaped at the home of the most underrated of our Founding Fathers.
The Presidents and their wives are interred in the Adams Crypt at the First Parish Church or “The Church of the Presidents” in Quincy Center. All along our 27 mile coastline are beaches, scenic vistas and opportunities to shop and eat.  Lovely Marina Bay is a “must see” as quaint shops and fine restaurants line the boardwalk along the marina.
Other sites of interest in Quincy include the USS Salem, a restored Des Moines class heavy cruiser; the former flagship of the US Navy’s 6th Fleet.  Next to the USS Salem is the United States Naval and Ship Building Museum.
Visitors can drop by the site of John Hancock’s birthplace, now home to the Quincy Historical Society.  The Dorothy Quincy Homestead, wife of Hancock, is also open to visitors with much of the original furniture and setting of the 1700’s.
A quick visit to Boston (Home of Fenway Park, and the 2004 & 2007 World Series Champions, Boston Red Sox) can be made easily by public transportation.  The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s (MBTA or “T”) Red Line trains will take you into Boston in less than 15 minutes.  There are four “T” stations in Quincy that will whisk you into Boston. The Harbor Express water shuttle will transport you into Boston in twenty minutes, allowing a beautiful view of Quincy’s coastline and the islands of Boston Harbor.
For tourist information, please see the brochures in your hotel lobby, visit the Tourism Kiosk in front of Quincy City Hall or call the National Park Service Center at ((617) 770-1175.
Adams Field, home of the World Series, lies on land once owned by the presidential Adams Family.  Adams Field is the finest amateur baseball field in New England.  There are five baseball fields within one mile of the host field.  We hope you enjoy the practice facilities as well as the game field, and we hope you come back for another visit.
Special thanks to our tournament host hotel, The Marriott.  You will find all of your needs met by the friendly and helpful staff at this wonderful hotel.  The Marriott has magnificent facilities and has proven itself to be a true community partner.
Whether you seek interesting tourist sites, shops, restaurants or just relaxing fun, there is something for you in Quincy.  We hope you enjoy your stay.
