Follow I-65 South, where it connects with I-10 and you’ll be in Mobile, the oldest city in Alabama, which is hard to believe with the constant new development.  Mobile County borders on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico.  No matter where you turn, you are minutes away from entertainment, mall or boutique shopping, and the best Southern Cuisine in the world.

You will never have a dull moment. Between outstanding baseball games, you could visit one of the many museums, such as the Mobile Carnival Museum, the Phoenix Fire Museum, the hands-on Exploreum & Imax Theater, or the Mobile Museum of Art.  If museums are not your thing, visit the USS-Alabama, warplanes and submarines at Battleship Park, the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, 5 Rivers Resource Center, the beautiful botanical gardens & home at Bellingrath, the childhood home of Hank Aaron at Baybear Stadium, or even an Escape Room Experience.  Do you enjoy tours?  Try a historical home tour and see the stunning Oakleigh Manor, the Bienville Bites Food Tour, the Haunted Mobile Ghost Tour, a self-guided bike tour through Downtown, or go out on Mobile Bay by Duck Boat, Airboat, or a Pontoon Boat Tour.  And, we have the always popular movie theaters, mini golf, go carts, bowling lanes, parks & splash pads.   If you would like to take a short drive, you can even enjoy the beautiful white sand beaches of Gulf Shores, the Owa Amusement Park, Waterville, or try your luck at the casinos in Biloxi. If you enjoy a day on the water, you could experience Deep Sea or In-Shore Fishing on a chartered boat, or a Dolphin Watching Cruise, then afterwards you might relax in an upscale spa, or have a cocktail in a local brewery and enjoy the nightlife on Downtown Dauphin Street.

The World Series will be played August 2-9 at Jacobs Field at the University of Mobile, which is a four-year, private, Baptist affiliated university, established in 1961.  Formerly known as Mobile College, the beautiful campus is located on 880 wooded acres.

Jacobs Field is named for Hall of Fame Coach Mike Jacobs, who founded the program and still leads the NAIA Rams today.  With the help of the assistant coach Jon Seymour, the Rams have been very successful, competing in the Southern States Athletic Conference.  35 Rams have signed MLB contracts, 17 players were drafted, with 2 currently playing in the MLB.  A few of Mobile’s notable alumni are J.C. Romero, Joe Espada, Kyle McPherson, and Saul Rivera.

This immaculate baseball complex has 588 permanent seats, electronic scoreboard, press box, coach’s office, concession stand and bathrooms, home & visitors bull pens, and the J.C. Romero Hitting Facility.  In the fieldhouse, you will find, home team locker rooms and lounging area. This is a facility, and campus that students show off with pride.

Mobile has a strong history in Baseball, producing many successful players, such as:  Hank Aaron, Willie McCovey, Billy Williams, Randy McGilberry, Satchel Paige, Jake Peavy, Ozzie Smith, Amos Otis, Dave Stapleton, Josh Donaldson, Juan Pierre, and Turner Ward, just to name a few.   Let’s not stop there, other celebrities include:  AJ McCarron, Scott Hunter, Keith McCants, Jamarcus Russell, Darrell Wallace Jr., Sherman Williams, TJ Yeldon, Richard Tyson, Tim Cook, and Jimmy Buffett have also called Mobile home.
