Westfield – Proud Host of 2019 Babe Ruth 13-Year-Old World Series

Three years after hosting the 2016 Babe Ruth 14-Year-Old World Series, Westfield, Massachusetts is proud to oversee yet another major baseball tournament – the 2019 Babe Ruth 13-Year-Old World Series.

Westfield hosted its first Babe Ruth World Series in 2016 after having played in page World Series during both the late 1980’s and in 1992, 2012 and 2014.

During the 2016 World Series, 6,000 visitors made their way to Westfield for the event – bringing in $1.03 million in economic activity, per the Greater Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau.  They added that there was $522,036 in direct spending in Westfield and its surrounding towns during the eight-day tournament.

Westfield is a city located in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts that was first settled in 1660.  Travelers are drawn to the Pioneer Valley by its unspoiled nature, numerous parks and recreation facilities, including New England’s largest and most popular amusement park, Six Flags New England in Agawam and the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Springfield’s waterfront.  Westfield is also  located a short 1.5 hour drive from Boston, 2.5 hours from New York City and only 2 hours and 40 minutes from the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. 

The World Series games will be played at Billy Bullens Field, which has been used by athletes since its inception around 1930.  Numerous additions have been made over the years to make Bullens Field the premier baseball facility in Western Massachusetts.
