Cera Blanchard Leads Jefferson Parish East Bank to World Series Victory

Cera Blanchard powered Jefferson Parish East Bank, Louisiana, at the plate and in the circle willing Jefferson Parish East Bank to a 6-3 victory over Mount Olive, New Jersey to win the 2015 Babe Ruth Softball 12U World Series hosted by Alachua County, Florida.

Cera racked up two RBIs on three hits for Jefferson Parish.  She doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the fourth and seventh innings.

Cera struck out 11 hitters en route to the Jefferson Parish win.  She allowed one earned run on four hits and five walks over seven innings.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the seventh, with seven lead changes.

Jefferson Parish pulled out the win thanks to a strong seventh inning.  An error scored Alexis Pizzolato and gave Jefferson Parish the lead for good.

Anna Callahan couldn't get it done on the rubber for Mount Olive, New Jersey, taking a loss.  She lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.

The top of the second saw Jefferson Parish take an early lead, 1-0.  A single by Hailey Harvey, scoring Claire Sekinger started the inning off.

Jefferson Parish scored one run in the fourth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the sixth.  In the fourth, Jefferson Parish scored on a fielder's choice, bringing home Claire.

Jefferson Parish tied the game in the sixth on an RBI single by Hailey that scored Makayla Arbelo.

All participating teams were champions, both on and off the field.  What does it mean to be a champion?  Champions = character, heart, attitude, motivated, perseverance, initiative, optimistic, never quits and selfless.
