Recent Board Member Elections


The International Babe Ruth League, Inc. Board of Directors, composed of not more than 17 persons including the Chairman of the Board and the President, directs the affairs and policies of Babe Ruth League, Inc. The eight Regional Commissioners serve as Board Members along with eight At-Large members who are volunteers from all walks of life, representing the combined thinking of Babe Ruth's community at all levels of administration.
Newly elected to the Babe Ruth League, Inc. International Board of Directors as Pacific Southwest Regional Commissioner is Bob Motta of El Segundo, California. Bob Motta began his journey with the Babe Ruth League program in 1979 as a Prep League coach for the El Segundo Babe Ruth League. Bob continued to volunteer at the local league level for many years, serving as a coach, League Board Member, and as President of the El Segundo Babe Ruth League. In addition, Bob served as Southern California District 2 Commissioner until being elected State Commissioner in 2017, a position he held until his recent election as Pacific Southwest Regional Commissioner.

Re-elected to the Board of Directors as At-Large Members were Leonard Hammer of Fowler, California; George Lally of Norwood, Massachusetts; and Henry Sermons of Havelock, North Carolina. Leonard Hammer has been active in the Babe Ruth League program since 1980, when he served as a coach and League Presidents until 1990. In 1991, He was elected District Commissioner and held that position until 1994 when he was elected Central California State Commissioner. In 2002, Leonard was elected Pacific Southwest Regional Commissioner and a member of the Babe Ruth League International Board of Directors. A short time ago, Leonard stepped down as Regional Commissioner and was elected an “At-Large” Board Member. George Lally joined the Babe Ruth program in 1962. His early involvement was as a coach, umpire, League Vice President and President in the South Boston area. In 1970, George was elected Massachusetts State Commissioner, a position he held until being elected New England Regional Commissioner in 1975 and an automatic member of the Babe Ruth League Board. Lally has been continuously re-elected to the Board of Directors, now serving as an At-Large Member. Henry Sermons has been a part of the Babe Ruth League program since 1966 when he coached and managed for his local league. In 1972, he was elected League President and held that position until becoming a District Commissioner in 1989. In 1991, Henry was elected Southeast Regional Commissioner and a member of the Babe Ruth League Board. Sermons has been continuously re-elected to the Board of Directors, now serving as an At-Large Member.
