Hamilton, NJ – Babe Ruth League, Inc. announces the upcoming retirement of Robert P. Faherty, Jr., who will officially step down from his role as Senior Vice President/Commissioner on August 31, 2025, after an exceptional 37 years of service to the organization.
Faherty began his professional career with Babe Ruth League in 1988 as Commissioner. From the beginning, he played a critical role in upholding the values and integrity of the organization, ensuring adherence to the Official Rules of Baseball and Softball, promoting local league autonomy, and championing the development of young athletes nationwide.
In 2006, Faherty was promoted to Vice President/Commissioner, and in 2021, he was named Senior Vice President/Commissioner—positions that reflected his unmatched leadership and dedication. Throughout his tenure, he supervised tournament play across all regions, supported league growth and retention, and prioritized ongoing education for league officials, managers, and volunteers.
Faherty has served as a vital point of contact for league officials, commissioners, and umpires, consistently fostering a positive experience for players and their communities. His efforts have also strengthened Babe Ruth League’s presence and reputation through collaboration with national and international organizations, including Major League Baseball, USA Baseball, the American Baseball Coaches Association, and the National Alliance for Youth Sports, among others.
Among his many accomplishments, Faherty helped launch over 150 World Series events, expanded Babe Ruth League programs into more than 25 international countries, and spearheaded the development of impactful training resources for volunteers and local league leaders. His business acumen, strategic foresight, and unwavering commitment have made him a respected figure in the youth sports industry.

Faherty is a graduate of The College of New Jersey and resides in Lambertville, New Jersey, with his wife, Nancy. They are the proud parents of Marly (Doug) and Jack (Giulliana).
