Babe Ruth League Coronavirus Update

Babe Ruth League Coronavirus Update

Updated: May 14th, 2020

With spring finally upon us, it is our hope that our players will be allowed to return to their community playing fields and play as much baseball and softball as they can for the remainder of the 2020 year.

Babe Ruth League’s highest priority remains the health, well-being and safety of our participants, families, volunteers, and fans. To help our local leagues navigate the restart and/or start of play in your community, we’ve  created some enhancement guidelines for your consideration. These enhancements will not replace local and state health official guidelines, but rather give additional insight to potential items and suggested best practices local leagues can look to add in light of COVID-19.

In our continuing effort to put our focus on local league play and local tournament play, the Board of Directors of Babe Ruth League, Inc. has asked that we forgo our traditional Regional and World Series formats for the 2020 season. Removing these events from the calendar in July and August will give local leagues and states more time to play locally once given permission to safely do so.

We know that many of you would still like to have additional tournament opportunities run by Babe Ruth League that resemble our Regionals and World Series events, if possible.  We’re currently exploring options for later summer and even fall, but for now our primary focus is on local league and state play when safely available.  As we evaluate each week and as more states begin to start play, we will report back with future plans for the calendar year.

Babe Ruth League has always been deeply committed to providing all of our participants with the very best educational sports experience possible in a safe and enjoyable environment.  We thank you for your patience, understanding, and support as we navigate these unprecedented times.

Until we meet again on the diamond, we ask you to focus on the guidelines set by the federal government and your state and local governments to make sure we are all committed to doing our best for the safety and well-being of EVERYONE in our Babe Ruth Community.

Stay Connected. Stay Strong. Stay Safe. #StrongerTogether

Sincerely,

Steven Tellefsen
