George Barr

1969

     George McKinley Barr was born July 19, 1897 in Scammon, Kansas. He was on the Babe Ruth Board of Directors and the 1st Umpire-in chief of the Babe Ruth Program.

     George was a major league umpire and umpired numerous World Series between 1937 and 1949.  He opened the 1st

     National League Umpire Training School.  He lived in Tulsa, Ok. And was actively involve in officiating and enhancing the Babe Ruth Baseball Program in Tulsa.

     George died July 26, 1974 in Sulphur, OK.

     George McKinley Barr was inducted into the Babe Ruth Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969.
