Stan Filmer

1985

Ruth League President/CEO Steven Tellefsen said," Stan Filmer has been involved with our program for over 30 years.  He is a very dedicated volunteer and plays a major role in the success the organization enjoys today.  It is a proud moment to have a person of his caliber inducted into the Hall of Fame."

Filmer was a pioneer in the development of the Babe Ruth Baseball 16-18 Division throughout the New England Region, as well as nationally. He was the first Connecticut 16-18 State Commissioner and founder of the North Stamford, Connecticut 13-15 Babe Ruth League and the Stamford 16-18 Babe Ruth League, where he served as President and Board Member.

Filmer was instrumental in the success of two New England Regional Tournaments, as well as the 1971 Babe Ruth Baseball 16-18 World Series in Stamford, which witnessed Host Team Stamford take top laurels and become World Champions. Stan directed the foster-parent program for these and several other tournaments.
